Zaborin is a ryokan of 15 individual villa suites in birch woods at Hanazono, Kutchan, part of the wider Niseko resort area, with views towards Mount Yotei. Every villa has two private hot spring baths, one indoor and one covered open-air, filled with free-flowing volcanic spring water, and guests choose between Japanese-style futon rooms (washitsu) and Western-bed rooms (yoshitsu). Dinner is chef Yoshihiro Seno's multi-course 'kita kaiseki', served in a secluded dining room, and breakfast is Japanese or Western; both are included in the rate. Shared spaces include a living room with a fireplace, a library, a bar facing Mount Yotei, a tea room and a footbath. The Hanazono ski area is about 7 minutes by car, with a free shuttle in ski season.
