What kakenagashi does — and does not — mean
The Japan Spa Association defines kakenagashi as continuously adding new hot-spring water and discharging overflow without returning it to the bath. Heating can still be used when disclosed, so “kakenagashi” is not automatically the same as “100% source water, no heating.” It also says nothing about whether the bath is indoors, outdoors, communal or in your room.
