Gora Kadan holds three MICHELIN Keys and Relais & Châteaux membership; FUFU Hakone, Hakone Gora KARAKU, THE HIRAMATSU SENGOKUHARA and ESPACIO The Hakone Geihinkan hold one Key. Gora, at the top of the railway
Gora is the end of the Hakone Tozan Railway, about 40 minutes from Hakone-Yumoto, and the place to change for the cable car to Sounzan and the ropeway on to Owakudani. Gora Kadan, on the former site of a Kan'in-no-miya family villa about three minutes on foot from Gora Station, holds three MICHELIN Keys and is a Relais & Châteaux member; it has 41 rooms. Hakone Gora KARAKU (70 rooms) and FUFU Hakone (39 rooms), also in Gora, hold one Key each.
Miyanoshita, Sengokuhara and Tonosawa
In Miyanoshita, Hakone Ginyu is about three minutes on foot from Miyanoshita Station, and each of its 20 rooms has an open-air bath facing the valley; it holds no MICHELIN Key and is in the catalogue as a member of The Ryokan Collection. ESPACIO The Hakone Geihinkan Rin-Poh-Ki-Ryu holds one Key and has 9 rooms, each a separate building at the bottom of the Hayakawa valley, five minutes on foot from the same station, each with its own hot-spring supply and dinner served in the villa. In Sengokuhara, THE HIRAMATSU SENGOKUHARA holds one Key and is also a Ryokan Collection member; every room has hot-spring water flowing straight from the source, and dinner is an Italian course. Hakone Kairai, also in Sengokuhara and a member of The Ryokan Collection, takes one party a day and opened in May 2025. Neither Sengokuhara stay runs a free shuttle. In Tonosawa, just upstream of Hakone-Yumoto, Yama no Chaya is a member of The Ryokan Collection: an inn across a suspension bridge over the Hayakawa River, 17 minutes on foot from Hakone-Yumoto Station, with its own spring pumped from 300 metres underground.

How do I get to Hakone from Tokyo?
JNTO gives about 90 minutes on the Odakyu Line from Shinjuku to Hakone-Yumoto, or about 55 minutes from Tokyo Station by Tokaido Shinkansen to Odawara and then the Hakone Tozan Line to Hakone-Yumoto. From Hakone-Yumoto the Hakone Tozan Railway climbs through Miyanoshita to Gora in about 40 minutes. Sengokuhara is reached by bus, taxi or car.
