SETOUCHI RETREAT AONAGI is a seven-suite hotel in Matsuyama, Ehime, in a building designed by architect Tadao Ando and run by Onko Chishin. The suites are the two-floor THE AONAGI Suite looking over the islands of the Seto Inland Sea, semi-open-air hot-spring suites with a full-flat reclining bath on four floors of the annex, a Garden Suite with a wooden balcony, and a 4-Bed Suite with two bedrooms for groups or families. Facilities include an infinity pool, a private pool, a spa and an art lounge, and there is no large public bath. Dinner is Japanese kaiseki built on local Ehime ingredients, with an optional pairing of Ehime sake and wines selected by the in-house sommelier.
