Wanosato is a ryokan in Ichinomiya, near Hida-Takayama, set in natural surroundings with the clear Miyagawa River flowing through its garden. Its rooms include detached cottages, among them a thatched gassho-zukuri house and an old minka with an irori hearth, plus rooms in the main building, each with its own bath and a capacity of up to three or four guests. The large public bath is a hot spring, while the in-room baths use heated natural groundwater, and there is no open-air bath. Dinner is a Japanese kaiseki and breakfast a Japanese meal of Hida ingredients, both served in the dining area. Only children of elementary-school age and older are accepted, and only in the detached rooms.
