The Three-Key Standard
The benchmark for this category is the three-Key Amanemu. It spreads just 32 suites across a forested site overlooking Ago Bay, equipping every room with a private bath. Further north in Nikko, TOKYU Harvest Club VIALA Kinugawa Keisui uses a similar formula for scale. It places 58 rooms along the river valley, again offering a private bath in each.
Islands and Concrete
Water and concrete define the remaining properties. Benesse House turns its 65 rooms into an extension of Naoshima's art museums, securing two Keys in the process. Warm-weather coastal stays round out the list, from the seven-room SETOUCHI RETREAT AONAGI by Onko Chishin in Matsuyama to the 26-room GOTO RETREAT ray by Onko Chishin, where every room has a bath. Down in Okinawa, Hyakuna Garan brings the resort format to a quiet cape with just 18 rooms.
