Hotels in Mie Prefecture: Amanemu on Ago Bay
Amanemu is Aman's onsen resort, set above Ago Bay in Ise-Shima National Park, and it holds three MICHELIN Keys. Each of its suites is 99 m² with a private onsen bath, and the spa covers 2,000 m². Kashikojima Station, the end of the Kintetsu line, is about 20 minutes away by car, and the resort collects guests there free of charge.

The other Mie stays on this list have fewer rooms. Oyado The Earth stands on a cape at Ijika in Toba; every suite has its own open-air bath, and the inn's baths are filled from its own hot-spring source. THE HIRAMATSU Kashikojima has eight rooms looking over Ago Bay, with French-based cooking. COVA KAKUDA keeps four villa suites on an inlet of Ago Bay, on the site of a pearl farm dating from 1931. HACIENDA VISON has six rooms inside VISON at Taki, about 20 minutes by car from Ise Jingu.

How do I reach Ise-Shima?
By Kintetsu train. Kashikojima, at the tip of the peninsula, is about 2 hours from Nagoya and about 2 hours 30 minutes from Osaka-Namba. From Kyoto, Iseshi Station takes about 2 hours 15 minutes, and Kashikojima is about 45 minutes beyond it on the Kintetsu Shima Line. Amanemu, COVA KAKUDA and THE HIRAMATSU Kashikojima collect guests from Kashikojima Station; Oyado The Earth runs a shuttle from Toba Station, about 35 minutes.
