Asaba is a ryokan in Shuzenji, Izu City, that traces its origins to 1484, when an ancestor of the Asaba family opened a temple lodging here, and it has been handed down through the Asaba family for more than 500 years. Its rooms look onto the Gekkeiden Noh stage and pond or onto the garden, and each has a wooden bathtub with hot spring water; the inn also has indoor and outdoor public baths filled with water from the Shuzenji hot spring. Dinner and breakfast are served in your room by a private server (except for large groups), using ingredients from Suruga Bay, the Kano River, the Amagi mountains and the rest of Izu. Children under 7 are not accepted except in the Villa Tenko, which takes children of any age.
