Yagyu-no-Sho is a sukiya-style ryokan set in a bamboo grove in Shuzenji Onsen on the Izu Peninsula. It opened in 1970, growing out of 'Yagyu', a Kyo-kaiseki restaurant in Shirokane, Tokyo, that began in 1959, and for its 40th anniversary in 2009 the entrance, baths and every room were renovated into sukiya architecture using traditional craftsmanship. Each of its 15 rooms has its own layout and a bath with flowing natural hot spring water, ranging from villa suites and suites with outdoor baths to rooms with semi-outdoor or hinoki indoor baths. Two large communal baths switch between men and women daily. Dinner, based on Kyo-kaiseki and local seasonal ingredients, and breakfast are both served in your room.
