Hiiragiya is a ryokan in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto, founded in 1818 and designated a National Registered Tangible Cultural Property, a 7-minute walk from Karasuma-Oike Station and 5 minutes from Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Station. It has 16 rooms in a two-storey wooden main building in the sukiya tea-house style and 7 rooms in a three-storey new wing, and nearly all rooms have tatami floors. There is no hot spring or large shared bath; room tubs are made of Japanese umbrella pine and filled with groundwater drawn from beneath the property, and two family-size baths can be reserved. Kyo-kaiseki dinner and breakfast are served in your room, and plans without breakfast, dinner or both are also offered. Families with children under 12 should contact the inn first.
