BYAKU Narai is an inn made up of four historic buildings in Narai-juku, a post town on the Nakasendo road, including the former Suginomori sake brewery, founded in 1793. Its 16 rooms use the structure of these buildings, which differ in original use and layout, and 12 of them have an open-air or semi-open-air bath; room 116 is an entire building more than 200 years old with a private sauna. Dinner at the restaurant Kura, in the former brewery space, is a course of about eight dishes of new local cuisine made with seasonal regional ingredients, and breakfast is about five side dishes made by local women. Pre-school children are in principle not accepted. Narai Station on the JR Chuo Main Line is a 5-minute walk away.
