The first Azuma Farm resort scatters 24 villas, built with red pine, cypress and other timber grown in Koiwai, across an 8-hectare pasture inside a farm cultivated for over 130 years.
AZUMA FARM Koiwai opened on April 23, 2026 as the first destination of the Azuma Farm farm-resort brand, on a pasture of about 8 hectares within Koiwai Farm in Shizukuishi, Iwate. Its 24 villas - 22 Forest Villas of 65 m² and 2 Garden Villas - use red pine, cypress and other materials grown in Koiwai, and were designed by Shiro Miura of the Kyoto firm Rokkakuya. Three private 89 m² 'Forest Springs' sauna pavilions each have a wood-fired sauna and a cold bath, and can be reserved for up to two hours for 55,000 yen. The restaurant serves breakfast and dinner built on Koiwai Farm produce and Sanriku seafood, and a free shuttle runs to Morioka Station every 45 minutes.
